Obituary for Armande Marie Forsyth

Armande Marie Forsyth
Armande Yvonne Bernice Marie passed away peacefully on November 27, 2016 in Vancouver at the age of 91, predeceased by her husband of fifty-four years, John. She will be lovingly remembered by her three children and spouses, Michele (Jeff), Joan (Bill) and Bob (Linda) and seven grandchildren, Kaelin, Terry, Kendra, Genevieve, Henry, Louise and Isabelle.

Armande was born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan in 1925. She graduated from the Gravelborg Convent School and normal school in Regina after which she began a long and celebrated teaching career ranging from early days in Lafleche to her retirement from Ecole St. Sacrament in 1990. She took great pride in her students and her dedication to their success was recognized through a teaching award of excellence.

Armande met John at a teacher’s bowling league game in Vancouver and they were married on December 22, 1956 in Lemington Spa, England. After raising their 3 children, they fully embraced their new roles as grandparents and could be seen at many a concert and sports event. They also managed to enjoy two extended experiences overseas, first in Ghana, West Africa and then in Adelaide, Australia.

A wonderful hostess, Armande’s home was always open and she made sure everyone felt welcome, cared for and well fed. Her Christmas sing alongs were much anticipated and she will be with her family in spirit when they come together this year.

The family wants to specially thank Armande’s devoted caregivers of many years, Raquel, Claire, Mina, Eric, Len Len, Riza, Rose and Gabbie. Your care and love allowed her to remain in her family home.
