Obituary for Petronella Weiler

Petronella “Pat”, 96, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Vancouver, BC.

Pat was born in June 1920 in the hamlet of Mount Green, Saskatchewan to parents Mathias and Pauline Wanner. Pat was the third oldest child in a loving, close-knit family of 12 children. Having grown up in a small prairie community, Pat wanted a change and followed her brothers Matt and Joe to Vancouver. She found employment at St. Paul’s Hospital and quickly became immersed in the Catholic youth group. It was during this time she met her husband Peter Weiler and they married September 30, 1953.

Pat’s unwavering faith was expressed through her daily life as a wife, mother, and homemaker. Her enduring kindness and compassion were evident to all who knew her, and those close to her were deeply impacted by her endless patience, counsel, and support.

Pat is survived by her four children and spouse: Tim Weiler, Julie Weiler, Tom Weiler, and Mary Weiler (Wes Tuttle); three grandchildren: Hailey, Colton and Trevor; four sisters: Anne Wanner, St. John, NB, Connie Conlon, Windsor, ON, Teresa Dukart, Estevan, SK, Mary Novak, Maple Ridge, BC, with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Pat was predeceased by her husband, Peter (1982); her seven brothers: Matthew Wanner, Joseph (Kae) Wanner, Alphonse (Lucy) Wanner, William (Adeline) Wanner, Paul Wanner, Edward Wanner, and Tony Wanner; three sisters-in-law: Jean Wanner, Verna Wanner, and Etta Wanner; three brothers-in-law: Patrick Conlon, Jacob Dukart, Walter Novak, and daughter-in-law Mila Weiler.

Mom, we miss you terribly.
