The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Agnes Klok can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Agnes Jane Klok (Perry)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes on Saturday, April 1, at the age of 91, after a brief illness. Agnes was predeceased by her loving husband, Bernard, in 1996. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Eileen (Ron); son, Tom (Valaria); grand-daughter, Riava; sisters-in-law, Lucille, Margaret, Delores, Frances (Ken); and many nieces and nephews.

Agnes was born and raised on a farm in Saskatchewan, where she rode horses and helped her family in many ways, such as cooking and harvesting. Her father, Michael, was from Gaspé, and her mother, Elizabeth, was from Scotland. She had three half-sisters, Anne, Elizabeth and Helen; and three brothers, John, Joseph and Edward. Agnes moved to Vancouver in 1942, where she eventually met Barney Klok. They married in 1950, bought their dream home in South Vancouver and had two children.

Agnes was a dedicated mother and homemaker, and an avid gardener and seamstress. Her steady Catholic faith guided and comforted her throughout her long life. Agnes will be remembered for the twinkle in her eye, her sense of humour, and her generosity and loyalty to family.

Special thanks to the kind staff at Arbutus Care Centre, as well as to Agnes’s friend, Jane.
