Life Story for Margaret Sandra Owens (Feairs)

Owens, Margaret
January 31st, 1944 – June 5th, 2017

With deepest sadness we mourn the passing of Margaret (Feairs) Owens, suddenly but peacefully in Vancouver, BC on Monday, June 5th, 2017, at the age of seventy three.

Beloved wife of Raymond Owens, cherished sister of Elizabeth (Bill) Wallace, Eleanor (Bob) Mueller, Ruth Feairs, Joan (David) Wishnevski and Jim (Fran) Feairs.

Dear sister in law to Brian Owens, Marilyn (Dave) Finn, Nancy (Armin) Kowitz, Bill (Lily) Owens and Jim (Bonnie) Owens.

Dearly loved and sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, godchildren, extended family and friends.

Pre-deceased by parents, James and Josephine Feairs and father and mother in law, William and Stella Owens.

Margaret was very supportive of and dedicated to every generation of her family. She was mentor and cheerleader to nieces and nephews, a caring daughter to her parents, an avid reader, a singer who appreciated music of all kinds, a gardener and lover of nature. She loved a good cup of tea and enjoyed hosting family and friends with good food and conversation. A gifted writer, she authored the book, Prison Education in Canada: An History.

Margaret graduated from the University of BC with a Master of Education. Her career as an Adult Education Specialist took her to many parts of the world and throughout BC.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at West Point Grey Community Centre, Aberthau House, 4397 W. 2nd Ave., Vancouver, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
