Condolence From: Sr. Cecilia Hong, MIC
Condolence: A Tribute to my good friend Mrs. Janet Wong

My deep condolence to Mr. Wong and family at this moment of grief! I regret for not being able to see Janet before she departed for heaven. May she rest in eternal happiness and smile upon us!

The last time we spoke, she shared with me her last wish was to die before September so that she would not drag her family endlessly, she wanted everyone to return to their normal life and responsibilities in September! How considerate can one be when one is near death and yet not holding on to one’s own life and dear ones? Janet was a unique and unusual Woman with an incredible faith and inner strength! She was a woman for others and not for herself! She said that she was contented to see that all her children and grand children are doing well and she had done all she could and now she could go in peace! Indeed God had fulfilled her wish and took her even before time!

Janet was a dear friend and a big sister to me. Even though we had known each other for only 10 years yet we felt so at home with each other! She was a blessing in my life! Through these years I came to appreciate her deeply. Janet was a woman of conviction, a woman with great integrity, justice, honesty and generosity! She was a no-nonsense person, never a pleaser, a song that describes her well is “I did it My Way”. Janet was a woman with an invincible faith, although she had a health problem she never talked about it nor gave it power to control her life. She continued to serve as volunteers at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital and at Airport until the very end of her life. It was my joy to be invited to attend her 20th anniversary Award for her services at the Airport. She was never someone who wanted to be famous and renowned, her joy was simply to serve and give.

So many priests, religious including myself and my companion Sr. Helen Hong and so many parishioners and even doctors had received countless caring gestures from Janet. Her incredible generosity and deep compassionate heart made her reach out to all those who were in need, especially those who were sick and dying. She would go out of her way to drive them, cook for them, bring them food and accompany them, care for them and made them feel comfortable and secure. What greater love can one give than giving oneself so unconditionally to those in need? Janet had put the words of Jesus in the Gospel deeply in her heart and it had become her motto: “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, you do unto me!” Janet had done everything in Jesus’ name and never in her own name! For this reason, we know that today Janet is warmly welcomed into God’s kingdom to receive her eternal awards from the Holy Trinity! May we rejoice with her as she had run the race in the footsteps of Jesus and attained her goal with outstanding ovation! May she continue to watch over you all her dear family and friends!

I will be with you in prayers for tomorrow’s Mass from Quebec Province!

Condolence: Dear Christine and family,

Our condolences on the passing of your mother. You are in out hearts and minds. I hope that our Lord brings you and your family the much-needed peace during this sad time.

Mrs. Wong had been such a wonder teacher and principal who defined the paths of her students and impacted the lives of many, including myself. No words can express my gratitude. It has been a blessing for me to have the opportunity to be under the caring of such a wonderful and selfless person.

Take good care,
Raymond and Family
