Obituary for Rosa Maria Gacek (Loconte)

Rosa Maria Gacek (nee: Loconte)

On August 14, 2017, Rosa Maria passed away peacefully at the age of 37, after a courageous two year battle with Breast Cancer; surrounded by her closest family and friends at Vancouver General Hospital. Loved by many, she is survived by her husband, Richard, sons Michael and Matteo, parents Anna and Leonardo, brother Sebastiano and his wife Deanne; nieces Katia and Ava, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Rosa Maria graduated from SFU, became a teacher and found her calling, counselling elementary school children. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, and her greatest pain was leaving her sons much too soon. She brightened the lives of everyone she met.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nancy Van Laeken, Dr. Paul Klimo and Dr. Gurdev Parmar.

Prayers will be offered 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, B.C. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Celebrant Fr. Eugenio Aloisio. Entombment will follow the Mass at the Grand Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, B.C.
