Condolence: Deeply shocked and saddened that one who was so full of life and energy should pass away so suddenly. I offer my deep condolences to all his extended family. For his family, life will never again be normal, but some comfort may be found in the knowledge that he is now with his God. I, along with many others will miss him greatly.

Condolence: I was shocked to hear the terribly sad news that Jozef had suddenly passed away. Jozef joined TRIUMF a few months before I did, and I recall that from the first meeting I was impressed by how he was constantly upbeat, and approached life with a wonderfully positive attitude. He was a pleasure to be around. Our first contacts were in the early mornings when we passed each other on our runs around UBC. He was a great runner, and really enjoyed sailing around at an impressive speed. He made a number of attempts to entice me into joining him for a 'fun 24 hour relay', but I was not sure I could manage the 24 hours as easily as he did. Over the years Jozef and I worked together on many occasions, perhaps most notably with ATG. He was a dedicated and highly competent engineer who had an inventive mind that frequently identified novel solutions to problems that arose. Whenever there was a major mechanical problem with the operations of any of the small cyclotrons, he was always at the forefront, ready and willing to jump in and help fix it. Jozef's daughter, Anna, worked with us as a summer student, and through her I learned that he was also a dedicated father, devoted to his two daughters. He was also a keen auto mechanic and even completely rebuilt his BMW. I also recall his telling me on one occasion how he had spent the prior weekend replacing the transmission in his daughter's car as quickly as he could, while she waited anxiously for the return of her transportation. Jozef approached everything with great enthusiasm, dedication and determination. He was one of those rare people who are a pleasure and gift to know. Jozef will be sorely missed by the many, many people who were fortunate enough to have known him. Our thoughts are with his family members at this time of great loss.

Condolence: I was just talking to Josef 10 days ago in the TRIUMF parking lot as he was returning from his daily run. Although he was not in my division we always had some personal greetings as we met. He asked what were my activities in retirement and He mentioned that he was close to retirement himself. So it is a major surprise to hear he left us. I will always remember his positive attitude and his total commitment to TRIUMF and the ATG group. He exemplifies the 'family' spirit of collaboration which made TRIUMF such a nice place to work at. A great loss for TRIUMF

Condolence: I am deeply saddened by the passing of Jozef. He had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face never forgetting to say hello when you would see him in the halls. Every year before the holiday break and at the start of the new year he always took the extra time to walk up to everyone in the office and wish us all best wishes for the holiday season and a happy new year as well. He would always shake our hand and I was always so appreciative that he did that and felt grateful to be included. My deepest condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed at Triumf.

Condolence: I have no words to express my sadness and shock for the sudden passing of JOzef, a highly respected colleague and friend. Our thoughts are with Jozef's family and pray for his souls and them with the hope they find some comfort in his memory. He was a family man with a big hearth, generous and passionate about life and his job. Our deepest symphaty to Jolanta, Anna and Kasia, grand children and the extended family. Jozef encouraged me to run along side him in the year 2000. Thanks to him I run my first Vancouver 10 Km Sunrun that year. Every time we came across each other at TRIUMF he greeted me with a big smile and a power voiced "Mamma Mia!". We always had a laugh together after that. Jozef was a caring man that liked to connect with his colleagues at the human level as well as professional level. He leaves a big vacuum at TRIUMF and in our personal life. We will dearly miss his advise always delivered with a big smile. So long Jozef!. Farewell, my friend. May you rest in peace running the meadows of Heaven! Franco and Cindy

Condolence: I am so sad that Jozef is gone. My memories are of him always rushing from one place to another, taking the stairs two or three at a time. He always had a friendly smile and greeting for me when we passed in the hallway. He was a lovely man and our workplace will be diminished by his absence.

Condolence: I am shocked about Jozef's unexpected passing. :( Jozef had been my running partner for some years. Last time he called me to go for a run was Wed Oct 11, before lunch. I did not go as I was a bit under the weather but he did. Jozef's energy and desire to stay active was contagious; he inspired many people around him. Jozef was not only my running buddy but also a friend who always had a story to tell, always had a good word of comfort, or an advise to give. Jozef spoke highly of his family and he was very proud of his daughters and his grandchildren. In the last phone message I got from him he was "bragging" about his grandson who was doing great in a race. And that was just few weeks ago.:( I am going to miss you, Jozef! My sincere condolences to his family!

Condolence: I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Jozef's passing. Jozef and I worked together for 15 years at Nordion\TRIUMF. We talked a lot and we shared our stories. We had both immigrated to Canada, we were the same age, and we each had two daughters. You could say we grew wise(er) together and shared a lot of blood, sweat, and tears during that time. Jozef and I shared some great working adventures in Europe and Taiwan. We shared many meals in Belgian town plazas and Taiwanese noodle houses, getting to know each other even more. Jozef approached work with gusto and with a can do attitude. He knew that what he was doing made a difference in the world. My deepest condolences to Anna, Kasia and Yola. Jozef loved his family and was so proud of his daughters. He loved being a grandpa. Condolences also to all who worked with Jozef, what a sudden shock for you all. Jozef you will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

Condolence: I'm deeply shocked that Josef past away. It seem like yesterday that my wife and I talked with Josef in Richmond Mall. He still had a good sense of humour. He was smiling and joking with me. I had the pleasure of working with him from the Triumf control room. Even in my limited Polish he would still talk and joke with me. Zegnam Przyjacielu. With sadness John Kaminski and family.

Condolence: I’m so saddened by this profound loss and still can’t believe it. Growing up Jozef was generous enough to make me feel like part of the family, he gave me driving lessons (complete with a sense of humour), explained physics to me on the way home from UBC, and he took me and Kasia on a road trip to Oregon. He possessed a determination and intelligence that was inspiring. My heart goes out to his family. He will be deeply missed.

Condolence: It is with great sadness to say goodbye to Jozef. He was a caring and dedicated person who loved his family dearly. He was very proud of his family and beamed when speaking of his grandchildren. Even though I moved away from TRIUMF and Vancouver a year ago, he still sent me a birthday message on my birthday, because that's how he was. He was a caring and thoughtful man. Goodbye Jozef. You will be deeply missed. Niki Martin

Condolence: It is with heartfelt sadness that I leave this message. Jozef's sudden passing was such a shock and extremely difficult to process. Jozef was a shining example of passion, energy, and enthusiasm in everything he did. I will miss him dearly and I wish his family my sincere condolences at the loss of such a wonderful partner, father, and grandfather. May you rest in peace my friend. Jill

Condolence: It is with mixed emotions to say good-bye. I will remember Tuesday, the day he died when he came to my office. And true to Jozef form we talked at length, and then uncomfortably he said “oh gosh I am sorry, I will remove my hat”, I new what he had been taught, and we joked about it. Sadness is hard so you need to remember the positive moments. My next memory is Denmark, IPAC17. I go down to see how he is doing with the exhibition management, and there he is surrounded by young folks. At first I think It is odd, then I see all of them have “Poland” as their institution, that was cool. He was in his element! Good-bye Jozef. Hugs.
