Marienette (Marie) McEwan
Our hearts are broken today. We lost a wonderful Mother, Mother in law, Grandmother and Great -Grandmother. Marienette passed away comfortably and quietly with family at her side on Monday, October 23 at 12:15 at Irene Thomas Hospice in Ladner, BC. Marienette (Marie) McEwan was born on February 7, 1927 in Strasburg, France to Antoine and Marie Bernhart. Her parents and two brothers Gerrard (1982) and Pierre (1942) Bernhart pre-deceased her. In 1950 Marie married Kenneth Joseph McEwan; and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage before Ken passed away in 2000. Together they devoted their lives to raising their eleven children in the catholic faith. Over the years Marienette dedicated her free time to causes focused on her faith such as the Women’s Auxiliary for St Mary’s Hospital, Sechelt BC. and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Vancouver, BC. Marienette is survived by her eleven children, Peter (Gayle), Katherine, Michael (Gail), Mary (Chris), Paul (Tami), Anna (Darryl), Maureen (Terry), Stephen (Paddy), Phillip (Jennifer), Patricia (Paul) and Chuck (Colleen), twenty two grandchildren Christa (Bill), Michelle (Tim), Erin (Mark), Ethan, Keyrsten (Steve), Courtney (Brad), Alisha (Kevin), Kyle, Daina (Brent), Justin, Trevor, Tyler (Melissa), Rylan (Marlee), Cameron, Matthew, Malcolm, Aimee-Marie, Hanna, Carly, Liam, Kenna, Cole and seven great grandchildren Marie, Joe, Leif, Evan, Emily, Avery and Clare. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2465 Crown Street, Vancouver B.C. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Marienette’s name to the Irene Thomas Hospice in Ladner, BC.
Marie will join her beloved husband Ken, two brothers and parents in heaven for eternal life.
