Obituary for Gabriella Eva Putti

Gabriella Eva Putti
Gabriella was called home by the Lord, at the age of 89, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

She passed away peaceful surrounded by the love of her family and in the tender care of the staff at her home in Lynn Valley Care Centre. Gabriella was born in Nyerjesujfalu, Hungary emigrating to Canada with husband George Putti and daughter Judit during the 1956 Hungarian revolution. She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, George, by her older sister Mimi and their parents. She is survived by and lovingly remembered by her daughter Judit (Kerry); 4 cherished grandchildren Adam (Theresa); Matthew (Yolanda), Adrianna and Gabrielle and 9 amazing great-grandchildren Lucas, Amy, Dempsey, Royston, Suraiya, Lanaya, Navaya, Kira and Cole. In Hungary she is survived by her younger brother George (Kati) and many nieces and nephews.

Gabriella’s life had it’s share of challenges and rewards. She weathered the challenges through faith and shared the rewards with generosity and love. Even when dementia and then Alzheimer’s robbed her of her memory and ability to communicate, Gabriella maintained a sense of humor, enjoyed a good chuckle, would tap her toes to music and enjoyed being surrounded by people. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, the void in our hearts that she leaves behind cannot be filled.

Prayers are scheduled for Wednesday, December 6 at 7:00 pm followed by Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, December 7th at 1:00pm both at Holy Trinity Church 2725 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver, BC.

Grateful thanks to the Nursing and care staff of 4th floor Manor at Lynn Valley Care Centre for their compassion and love throughout this 7 years. Thank you to Dr. Szeba for his kindness and care at the end.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC to support Alzheimer’s research are greatly appreciated.
