The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dusty Mittlestead can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: With Thanks for the Life and Faithfulness of Dusty (Wade) Mittlestead

The dark overwhelms me.
I am running in a black forest.
Brambles tear at me.
I stumble as myriad obstacles challenge me and angst and worry swirl about.

Suddenly! I spot a ray of sunshine!
I rush towards it. I hear the bubbling brook.
I burst into a scene of transformative calm…
This is Dusty. This is his space!

This is the calm that Dusty brought into our lives.
The way he approached life.
Always calm, thoughtful… reaching to welcome others into his space.
A generous soul in every respect.

Dusty is gone.
Our memories flood: childhood freedom, laughter, sorrow, unconditional love.
Quiet moments in God’s earthly paradise. A lazy old trout breaks the surface.
His spirit rises. The gifts he has shared with us remain. Thank you, Dusty

God’s peace embraces us all!
So be it.

Condolence From: Chris and Greg
Condolence: Dusty was a great man, husband, father, papa, uncle brother and brother-in-law. After a lengthy struggle with cancer (and he fought hard) he is now free. The "dash" that was Dusty's life between birth and death cannot describe the lifetime journey of Dusty. To those who were blessed to know Dusty were truly blessed to know the tender, generous, hard working and determined man that he was and that I will forever remember him to be. He could do anything!
I met Dusty shortly after he moved to Vancouver from Pembroke Ontario at the age of 18. Then Dusty met and married my sister in September 1978 and then he was not only a friend, but part of my family. An event I am forever grateful for. May you ever travel under a wandering star Dusty. Love Chris
