Obituary for Audrey Isabel Kryway

Audrey Isabel Kryway
Audrey Isabel Kryway passed away peacefully on August 18, 2017 at Brookside Lodge in Langley B.C. at the age of 94 just shy of her 95th birthday. Audrey was predeceased by her loving husbands Nick Kryway (of 40 years) and Stan Jamieson (of 8 years) and her granddaughter Brandi Gail Sloboda in 1980. She will be lovingly remembered as a great Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Great Great Grandmother and sadly missed by her son Jim (Rose) Kryway, daughters Donna (Jeff) Christian, Coleen (Bill) Sloboda, Lynn Sippola, Bonnie (Jerry) Dersch and her grandchildren Cliff (Sue), Cam (Nadene), Dean (Linda), Blain (Susan), Kim (Adam), Joelle (Brett), Scott (Olivia), Ashley (Justin), Jerrod (Jennifer), Simon and 20 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Mom was born in Leask, Saskatchewan on October 5, 1922, where her Mother and Father had homesteaded after coming from England and Scotland. They moved to Saskatoon and Mom attended Caswell Hill public school and Bedford Road Collegiate. Mom continued her education at Business College in Saskatoon and started her secretarial career. She worked for Wartime Prices during the war. Mom married Stan Jamieson in 1946 and they had three daughters. Stan passed away suddenly shortly after their third daughter was born in 1954 leaving her a widower at the young age of 31. To support her three daughters Mom went to work.

She was employed by the City of Saskatoon, Police Department. Audrey raised 3 daughters on her own for 9 years until she was fortunate enough to find love again with Nick who was widowed with a daughter and son of his own. They were blessed to be married for 40 years before Nick passed away at the age of 80. Audrey then moved to Langley BC where she loved the warmer weather and beautiful scenery, and to be closer to 2 of her daughters. Mom had a passion for golf and curling, but was happiest being with her children and their families.

Mom was a lovely lady both inside and out. When we think of Mom we remember her gifts of insight and wisdom sprinkled with humor. She was also an avid sports fan and loved to watch all sports. She taught us so much about grace, manners, kindness and respect. Mom had a great sense of humour which she shared with her family.

Our family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Brookside Lodge for their attentive and expert and tender loving care they gave to our Mom.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, Fort Langley, B.C. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to babysbreathcanada.ca (formerly the SIDS Foundation), or waramps.ca (War Amps Canada or a local charity of your choice. Condolences for the family can be left at www.kearneyfs.com.
