The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mette Garbutt can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mette Garbutt, beloved wife of the late Gordon Garbutt. She will be dearly missed by her children Clifford (Athena), Dana and Shelley; grandchildren Natalie, Danielle and Jeffrey; brother David Petersen (Gerda); sister-in-law Loraine Atkey; nieces and nephew; and dear friends.

Mette was a loving mother and grandmother and will be forever missed. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed her lush garden and home. She was also an amazing cook, loved golf, travel, theatre and the symphony.

We would like to thank the staff and care-givers at Sunrise of Lynn Valley for their excellent care of our Mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. in Mette's name.

A private family gathering will take place.
